About Sporting Times

The Sporting Times, LLC, is headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky servicing three regions as an all-positive high school sports news source available to our readers free, via online and print.
Corporate headquarters and the company’s training center are located near Western Kentucky University’s campus at the heart of historic downtown Bowling Green, KY.
The Sporting Times is a family owned business.
Owner and Publisher Doug Thompson founded the Sporting Times in 2004. The Sporting Times was the first publication of its kind to feature student athletes and local youth sports exclusively. The first copy was printed in February 2005.
In May 2007, The Sporting Times distributed its first 1 million copies.
In July of 2007, the Sporting Times expanded to its second publication covering Elizabethtown, KY and surrounding areas.
In February 2010 The Sporting Times partnered with Russell Athletic Brand, a sub company of Fruit of the Loom. Russell Athletic is now the official gear provider of The Sporting Times team.
In July 2010 the Sporting Times launched its 3rd publication in Owensboro, KY and surrounding counties. To date, in addition to region sports the Sporting Times covers 22 counties and 42 high schools in Kentucky.
The Sporting Times Broadcast Network (STBN) was added in 2013. This is a division of ST that will allow crystal clear broadcasts of select high schools to be heard free to our listeners, and fans of the Sporting Times and local high school sports. Our first broadcast was during the 2013 Football season which included two schools. We will be branching out and covering multiple sports and multiple teams. In 2014 we will be covering high school basketball for 4 teams in the Bowling Green, KY area.
The Sporting Times has awarded over $25,000 in student-athlete scholarships. This number continues to grow.
In August 2015, Sporting Times launched it’s first Columbia, TN magazine.
The Sporting Times brand is the only advertising service of it’s kind! We currently cover 22 counties in Mid & South Central Kentucky. Retail outlets, fueling stations, restaurants, car dealerships, banks and schools are just a few examples of where you can find the Sporting Times Magazine.

WHAT WE DO
- We publish 4 issues a year that feature student-athletes, teams, coaches and community.
- We publish 12 digital issues per year., available on iTunes for iPad.
- We are heavily involved in the community and are always present at sporting events
- We host several radio shows on ESPN and have a weekly show “Sports Connection” on WBKO.
- We host weekly seasonal live broadcasts that include play-by-play and color for select high schools. This is STBN (Sporting Times Broadcast Network).
- We provide custom ad creation upon request. It’s affordable and always a fast turnaround! Our graphic design team has years of experience in marketing which will prove evident in the artwork that we provide.
